Daniel M. Erbert

Daniel Max Erbert, 74, of Nixa, MO, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014, at his home in Fremont Hills, MO. Dan was born December 13, 1939 to Frank and Edythe (Matteson) Erbert, in Ellis, KS. Dan was a math teacher, Jr. High and HS Principal during his educational career. He was in the teaching field for thirty-two years, and taught at Cimarron, KS, Wichita, KS, Ellsworth, KS, and Springfield Catholic HS in Springfield, MO. Dan was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Springfield and a member of Knights of Columbus in Ellsworth, KS, and Springfield, MO. He was on the church council, a lector and member of the choir in Ellsworth and also choir member at IC for two years. He loved sports of all kinds, but especially enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of Fremont Hills Country Club and played golf in the Springfield Senior Golf Association. He also loved to bowl in his bowling leagues in Nixa and liked to fish when he found time. Volunteering at CLAIM was a special interest of Dan's in helping people make decisions about Medicare. Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn, of the home; and three sons, David, Nixa, Doug Erbert, (Jami), Omaha, NE, and Michael Erbert Gardner, KS; three brothers, Richard Erbert, (Mary), Katy, TX, John Erbert, (Carol), Danville, CA, Terry Erbert, (Tracey), Lenexa, KS; sister, Debra Reifschneider, (John), Lenexa, KS; and two grandchildren, Emily and Nick Erbert, Omaha, NE. Preceding him in death was his father Frank; mother Maxine; and his brother David. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to C.A.R.E. 1328 W. Sunshine Springfield, MO 65807. Prayers and a visitation will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Springfield, with Father Tom Kiefer officiating.
