Our Beloved son, Cory Adam Smith, age 34, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away in his home Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born June 28, 1984 in Des Moines, Iowa. Cory moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, at the age of ten, where he graduated from Warren Central High School. He attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. Cory recently moved to Nixa along with his father and step-mother.
Cory was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at the young age of five. He lived life to the fullest and his smile was contagious. Cory gave courage to everyone he touched. His network of friends meant the world to him. Cory loved Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where he organized a reunion with friends each year.
Survivors include: His father and step-mother, Mark and Maria Smith of Nixa; his mother, Bergit Smith of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two brothers, Rick of Sturgis, South Dakota, and Chris of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two sisters, Katherine of Ft. Bliss, Texas, and Cassandra of South Korea; grandparents, Sharon and James Smith of Nixa; uncles, Gene Smith and Paul Smith; an aunt, Sue Gonalez; several aunts and uncles living in Germany; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His grandmother, Dolly Roos preceded him in death.
A celebration of Cory's life will be 1:00 PM Monday, July 23, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Monday. Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the American Heart Association.
