Clifton K. Collins

Clifton K. Collins, of Ozark, Missouri, was born in Springfield, November 10, 1939, the son of Clifford and Ina (Finch) Collins. He died Saturday, June 14, 2014. Clifton was a graduate of Ozark High School and from 1957-1961 he served in the U.S. Air Force. On July 28, 1962, he and Carole Ann Campbell were united in marriage. Clifton was manager of two loan offices in Springfield for several years before entering the Recreational Vehicle industry as a partner with his father-in -law and mother-in-law Estel and Caroline Campbell. He continued to sell RVs for over 25 years. Clifton was baptized at the Ozark First Baptist Church, and was a member of Ozark Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where he served as Elder and Deacon. Clifton served his community in many capacities. He was a longtime member and past president of Ozark Rotary Club, and was a member of the Ozark School Board. Clifton was a lifetime member of Ozark High School Athletic Booster Club, and founding board member of Finley River Community Foundation. He was a board member of the Christian County Domestic Violence Center Task Force, served as MC for the Ozark Alumni Association Banquet, and was a lifetime member of the Christian County Historical Society. While wintering in Texas, Clifton served the McAllen First Presbyterian Church as Mission Board Member which included building hospitals and schools in Mexico. He was also an active supporter of Su Casa De Espiranza Early Childhood Development, in Pharr, Texas. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Carole, a daughter Cynthia Fitzgibbons and her husband John, a son Cameron and his wife Gaye, and four of the greatest grandchildren, Colleen Fitzgibbons, Carolyn Fitzgibbons, Chandler Collins and Augie Nickels. He was preceded in death by both parents, a younger brother Joe Collins, daughter-in-law Kathi R. Collins, guardian child Reg Donichie, and his parents-in-law. A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 17, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and in respect for Clifton's life-long dedication to our community, the family requests a donation be made to Finley River Community Foundation, PO Box 1176, Ozark, MO 65721.
