Claude Eugene Craker was born March 24, 1924, in Springfield, the son of Claude C. and Nellie (Roley) Craker. He passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012, in Ozark Riverview Manor.
Gene graduated from Strafford High School in 1942, and worked for Springfield City Utilities before enlisting in the U.S. Army. During World War II he served in the South Pacific and North Atlantic with the Army Transportation Service. Following his return from the service he worked as a city fireman in Springfield. He became a Greyhound Bus Driver and retired after 37 years of service.
He was member of Masonic Lodge United #5, Springfield Chapter #15, St. John"�s Commandery #2, and Abou Ben Adhem Temple since 1949. He was also a life member of VFW Post 7628 in Ozark. Gene served as a deacon of the Ozark Christian Church for many years.
He was married to Parmelia Joyce Anderson to which his two children were born. Joyce passed away June 18, 1981. Gene later remarried a longtime friend from the Ozark Christian Church, Martha Pauline (Studt) Lawson Craker on October 29, 1982. Survivors include his two children, Gene Craker II, Bedford, Texas, and Marjorie Ann Schultz, Springfield, and their families, a very special friend, Wayne Rice and his wife JaDonna, Ozark, and many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 19, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Chaplain Marcia Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday for viewing.
