Clarice Lindsey Tipton Glotfelty, a resident of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully on March 18, 2015 in the loving home of her daughter, Merrily. Clarice was born on July 2, 1922 to Presley and Gladys Tipton in the small town of London, Kentucky. Clarice will be remembered as a devoted wife, an involved mother, and a concerned grandmother who always wanted to know "your story".
Clarice married Dr. Henry Wayne Glotfelty on January 1, 1944 in Moultrie, Georgia. They celebrated 69 years together prior to Wayne's passing on February 26, 2013. Three children were born of their marriage; John Wayne Glotfelty, Henry Wayne Glotfelty II, and Merrily Clarice Glotfelty Parker.
Clarice was a woman of faith, who began her career as a Registered Nurse. Clarice and Wayne met while she was in nursing school and he was in medical school. After three short months of dating, they were married during war time and traveled the world together throughout their union. Clarice enjoyed the amenities of city life and found the value in country living. Whomever she met, she would treat with kindness and respect. Her southern drawl was an asset to any conversation. Although known for her calmness, she could also have a feisty flare with a twinkle in her bright blue eyes. Clarice's photography advice: "turn your face to the side, never look straight on".
Clarice is survived by her children: Henry Wayne Glotfelty II and spouse Mardy of Birmingham, AL; Merrily Glotfelty Parker and spouse Ron of Springfield, MO; Dianna Glotfelty, wife of John Glotfelty (the oldest son, deceased 2012).
Clarice is survived by her grandchildren: James Glotfelty and spouse Fely McMath of Springfield, MO; Michelle & Mary Glotfelty of Texas; Heather Parker of Springfield, MO; Holly Fletcher and spouse Rodney of Springfield, MO; and Henry Glotfelty III of Birmingham, AL. Clarice was also blessed with 7 great grandchildren: Johanna Glotfelty; Christina Glotfelty; Liatris & Tymon Parker-Reece; Nadia, Anthony, & Caitlyn Fletcher.
