Charles "Chuck" Hughie Crosby, age 79, of Willard, Mo. Passed away on April 17, 2017 at home. Charles was born September 22, 1937 to Hughie Crosby and Lizzie Langford in Millican, Tx. He was affectionately known as "Bubba" by his family and close friends in Texas. Charles lived life to the fullest after high school. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for one tour and was assigned to the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31) out of California. After the Navy, Charles rode the rodeo circuit for a while, bull riding and bareback bronc riding and between rodeos, was a cowboy on several ranches from Montana to Texas. He was an extra in the movie "McClintock" with John Wayne and later in life he studied for and obtained his private pilots license. In February of 1966 he met and married his lovely wife Alyce. He started working for Trans Texas Airline (TTA) that same year and they had the opportunity of traveling to Europe, Puerto Rico and Hawaii with the airlines. Working with the airline allowed their family to live in various states such as Texas, Utah, New Mexico and Missouri. He retired from Continental Airlines after 36 years of service. Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alyce Crosby of Willard, Mo. 2 sons, Steven Wilcox of Springfield, Mo. and Mark Wilcox and wife Susan of Willard, Mo. 1 daughter, Debra Wright of Cottonwood, Az. and 1 half brother, Joe and wife Nell of Houston, Tx. (4) grandchildren and (2) great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. The family would like to recognize and thank the Mercy Hospice people and Dr. Riedel and staff at Willard Mercy Clinic for their wonderful and compassionate care they provided to Charles and family during his illness. Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, 29 April at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery, located approximately 3 miles West of Willard. After the service there will be a social gathering at the Renew United Methodist Church in Willard.
