Charles J. Philipian, age 81 of Highlandville passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family and close friends.
He was born on August 29, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Walter and Muriel Philipian, who preceded him in death along with his brother, Whitty.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda and 5 daughters, Rebecca Argilagos, Charyl Nida, Georgina Holiday, Stacy Bristow and Kiely Philipian, 5 grandchildren, sister, Val Tackett and a host of friends.
"Chuck" served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea CV-47. After his honorable discharge he obtained a degree in education followed by 43 years of teaching, 28 years in California and 15 years at Reeds Spring High School.
His students were all very important to him and he imparted life lessons as well as the subject matter. Mr. P was always a favorite teacher and mentor who will never be forgotten. Throughout his life he loved visiting flea markets, always looking for an item to add to his vast collection. He made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. His big laugh and happy personality could brighten anyone's day.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Reeds Spring School Foundation Scholarship Fund, 20277 State Highway 413, Reeds Spring, Mo. 65737 or the American Cancer Society.
