Charles Clifton Gann

August 23, 1916 — September 15, 2011

Charles Clifton Gann went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in his home with his family and loved ones by his side at the age of 95. He was born August 23, 1916 in Ozark, the son of George Thomas and Allie (Day) Gann. Charles served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On March 28, 1946 he married Juanita Lorene Thomas. They lived in Rogersville for many years. Charles retired in 1978 from the Greene County Road and Bridge Department. He also farmed and was a very proud and hard working man. Survivors include: his five children and their spouses, Shirley Gann and Jim Southwick, Gary Gann and wife Cindy, Mike Gann and wife Judy, Karen Leach and husband Bill, Jane Baker and husband Mike; ten grandchildren, Amy Holdt, Jim Lawrence, Holly Wilberding, Tammy Lauthern, Josh Gann, Kim Parkison, Danna McCall, Dedra Green, and their spouses and Corey Baker and Ashley Baker; eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Rice, Katie Chaffin, Wilma Umphres, and Nancy Cuevas; two brothers, Bill Gann and Gene Gann; two step children, Carlatina and Dimitra and their husbands and families; three step grandchildren; 17 step great grandchildren; a special friend and neighbor, Jesse Stalker; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Gann; a brother, Bobby; two sisters, Clio Graves and Nadine Cobb; and his second wife, Jean. Charles was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He was strong and courageous and taught good values throughout his life. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Frank Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday in the funeral home. The family thanks Enid, Missy and Jymie Jo for their special care.
