Charles Ellis Carter

Charles Ellis Carter, age 91, of Nixa, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. He was born April 10, 1922, in Nixa, the son of Frank and Bertha (Nokes) Carter. On July 6, 1962, he and Bertha Deane Ellerman were united in marriage. Before retirement, Mr. Carter worked for French's (now Reckitt Benckiser) in Springfield. He enjoyed farming and working with cattle. Survivors include his wife, Deane Carter; a cousin Shirley Jones of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Debbie Jackson and husband Richard of Nixa; a stepson Henry Shupe of Ozark; eight grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and two brothers. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, December 28, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Rev. Carl Kurtis officiating. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery, north of Nixa. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Saturday.
