C. Marvin Allen, 90, Ozark, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at home. He was born January 26, 1921 in Dry Knob, Missouri and was the son of Charles Henderson Allen and Niza Jane (Cloninger) Allen. On August 10, 1942, he was united in marriage to Zelda Maxine Stanley. Marvin was a veteran of World War II having received 5 Bronze Stars in service to his country.
Marvin was a "gentleman"� farmer, an avid outdoorsman and a benevolent landlord with a big heart. He taught school for one year at Blackbird near Plato. Later, he was employed at Ozark Abstract and Title Company for 60 years. He continued to work part-time until the day of his passing.
He was an active member of the Selmore Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and member of the choir, having recently celebrated 50 years of membership.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda, their infant daughter, Rebecca Jane, his parents, his sisters Fern Choquette and Lois Wright; and his brother Herbert.
Survivors include three sisters, Marjorie Massey, Thelma Tracy, and Jewell Dowden and her husband, Carl; a sister-in-law, Georgia (Pinky) Allen; two children, Charles V. Allen and his wife, Gerri of Milford, Michigan; and Marcia Meyer, of Ava; seven grandchildren, Charles Bradley Allen and his wife, Kristin; Dr. Deborah Allen, Jacqueline Austin and her husband, Bruce; Missy Coulter and her husband, Dan; Jonathan Meyer and his wife, Diana; and Timothy Meyer. He also had 10 great-grandchildren plus many more family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Josh Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 and 9 a.m.-11 a.m. before the funeral service on Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the funeral home.
