Charlene Parnell

Charlene Parnell was born to Mary and Charley Stevens on the Bar-K Ranch in Garrison, Missouri on January 28, 1942. She peacefully departed this world to be with the Lord on December 22, 2023, surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital. 

She became a member of Garrison Baptist Church at age 13. In 1959, she graduated from West High in Wichita, Kansas where she met the love of her life, Richard Parnell (b. 1941). They married in 1960 and had three children: Jeff, Lisa, and Angie. 

She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, and bird watching, all of which she was exceptional. Charlene loved music, and passed on that love to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of Western films and the Tennessee Titans. She enjoyed planning family gatherings, looking at catalogs, collecting jewelry and knick-knacks, and going to the beach. Her favorite thing was spending time with her whole family. 

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Mary K. Stevens. 

She is survived by her devoted husband Richard Parnell of Ozark; brother Tom (Fay) Stevens, sister Zelda Jones; son Jeff (Nan) Parnell; daughters, Lisa Langford and Angie (Mike) Miller; grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha, Tess, and Anna; great grandchildren, Raelynn, Theo, and Silas; former son in law, Lynn Langford; and many loving extended family members and special friends. 

She was the heart, light, and matriarch of our family, and she will be so sorely missed until we join her in Heaven.

A funeral service for Charlene Parnell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Garrison Baptist Church, Garrison, Missouri, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Jon Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrison Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. immediately before the funeral at the church.
