Cecil Lester (Les) Workman, Jr., 88 years young, left this earth to meet Jesus on January 4, 2018, in Columbia, MO, following a long illness. Les was born in Ozark, MO, on November 2, 1929 to Muriel (Bray) Workman and Cecil Lester Workman, Sr. and is preceded in death by both of his parents and step-mother, Mabel Workman.
He has two surviving siblings, a brother, Jim Workman of Salem, VA and a half-sister, Madelene Ramsey of Ozark.
He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and the U.S. Army for eight years before returning to Springfield, MO, to teach Industrial Arts at Glendale and Parkview High Schools for 25 years. On November 24, 1956, he married Ilene (Page) Workman, who survives him. From their marriage, two surviving children were born, Andrew Page Workman (and wife, Jeannie and children, Amanda and Scott of Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO) and Sara Beth (Workman) Grimes (and husband, Greg and children, Drake and Deacon of Columbia) and numerous nieces and nephews. He served as a Gideon, distributing copies of the Bible, and as a Deacon in Second Baptist Church in Springfield for many years.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
Services are on Tuesday, January 9, 2018; 9:00 a.m. visitation, 11:00 a.m. service, followed immediately by burial at Selmore Cemetery.
