Carol Jean (Oxley) Lamb, born on July 10, 1944, to Eldred and Doris (Goodwyn) Oxley, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024.
Carol married the love of her life, Del Lamb, on October 5, 1968, and together they shared 56 years of marriage. Their love story began on a chance encounter on an icy road between Nowata and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Carol and her friend had stopped, and Del, seeing them, decided to check if they needed help. From that moment, Del knew she was the one. Their first date was to see Camelot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they married shortly after at the Nixa Church of Christ and honeymooned at the "Camelot" Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A humorous family story recalls Carol being momentarily starstruck by James Garner, who was staying at the hotel, leading to a long-running joke about her noticing another man just 24 hours into her marriage. She was noted to be his faithful companion.
Faith and family were the foundation of Carol’s life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, and her beautiful singing voice at church remains a treasured memory for her family. Carol was a devoted and protective mother, always present at her children’s special events, and she found joy in preparing home-cooked meals that brought her family together. She was an example of faith and love, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire her family.
Carol was known for her friendly and personable nature, quickly making connections with those she met. She worked as a medical secretary and at NCR for much of her career and was known for her ability to remember and warmly greet everyone who called or visited by name.
Carol is survived by: her husband, Del Lamb; a son Stephen Lamb (Monica); a daughter Cynthia Sollenbarger; two grandsons, Zachary Lamb (Madalyn), Luke Sollenbarger, three granddaughters, Ashtyn Lamb, Amelia Sollenbarger, and Abigail Sollenbarger.
Carol is preceded in death by: her parents and one brother Charles.
