Gene Chastain

Carl Gene Chastain, age 85 of Ozark, passed away October 10, 2024. He was born May 12, 1939, in Reeds Spring, Missouri the son of George Arch and Mary (Morris) Chastain. 

Gene was born and raised in Reeds Spring and graduated from Reeds Spring High School. On January 5, 1963, he was united in marriage to Joyce Mills Chastain.  

Gene served his country in the U.S. Army in radar artillery.  

Gene was a beloved barber at Nifty Barber and Beauty Shop on the square in Ozark for 13 years before retiring from 3M in Springfield in 1999.  

Survivors include: a son, Kerwin Chastain of Ozark, a daughter, Kelli Payne of Ozark, grandchildren, Kory Chastain of Ozark and Kenton Chastain of Ozark, Rusty Payne of Springfield and Alison Johnson and husband Max of Denver; three great grandsons; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers and three sisters. 

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Yocum Pond Cemetery in Stone County, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Dr. Wade Bridges officiating. 

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
