Carl Preston Carpenter

Carl Preston Carpenter, 85, of Springfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home following physical health complications. Carl was born August 31, 1931 in Bates City, Missouri to Floyd and Eula Carpenter. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Marie Carpenter; his sons Carl "Bud" and his wife Roxanne Carpenter, Gerald and his wife Linda Carpenter and Robert and his wife Freda Carpenter; his daughter, Beverly Carpenter; and 6 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Carl was a talented, skilled, passionate man who built several family homes. He worked on lawnmowers, and could fix anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing, playing the guitar, banjo, fiddle, singing, watching TV (especially westerns). He also enjoyed playing card games such as pitch, and listening to Merle Haggard and George Jones music. He loved spending time with family most of all. A private celebration of life service will be held for immediate family members. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community of Christ Church at 909 W. Battlefield Rd, Springfield, MO 65807.
