Carey Lee Cook, age 69 of Springfield, died Sunday, June 21, 2015. He was born September 27, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Charlie and Daisy (Carson) Cook.
On March 2, 1967, Carey married Grace Vincent. He served his country in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam.
Carey obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Missouri Western State University and pursued Masters studies at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Kansas City after a career as a chemist. Carey had a great love of the outdoors. His many talents included woodworking, carpentry, home renovation, mechanics and art. Carey was a Christian.
Survivors include: his wife Gracie Cook; two children, Caleb Cook and wife Angela, and Sara Schuh and husband Reginald; four grandchildren, Katherine and Hannah Cook and Madison and Jacob Schuh; a sister, Darlene Kirby; three brothers, Frank Cook, Jimmie Cook and Lonnie Cook; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
Carey was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Ogden and JoAnn Cogdill; and three brothers, Charles Cook, Robert Cook and Ronald Cook.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
