Calvin Curtis Hensley, 81, of Nixa passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.
Calvin was born on January 16, 1940 in Oden, AR; the third of ten children born to Adren Isaac and Mary Violet (Brumley) Hensley. On February 20, 1962, he married Margaret Landeryou in Montebello, CA. Together, they shared 38 years of marriage before her passing on April 1, 2000.
In his heart, Calvin was a “driver”. If it had four wheels, he wanted to drive it. This extended to his occupation, where he spent over 40 years as a truck driver, but also as a hobby – he loved demolition derbies! Another love of his was music. Calvin loved to play guitar and in the 1980s spent his time playing in his band, “Total Confusion.”
Calvin is survived by: his mother, Violet Hensley; two daughters, Wanda Schultz of Nixa and Donna Skillern of Heiningen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, one foster daughter, Geneva Bates of Indio, CA; seven siblings, Marvin Jr. Hensley of Indio, CA, Russell Henlsey of Yellville, AR, Beatrice Porter of Caddo Gap, AR, Eddie Hensley of Temple, TX, Sandra Flagg of Bull Shoals, AR, Lewonna Nelson of Yellville, AR, and R.G. Hensley of LaVerne, MN; twelve grandchildren, Christopher Schultz of Memphis, TN, Charles Schultz of Pinyon Pines, CA, Seth Schultz of Nixa, Steven Schultz of La Quinta, CA, Sawyer Schultz of Nixa, Michelle Stark of St. Louis, Kimberly Skillern of Oklahoma City, OK, Danielle Skillern of Oklahoma City, OK, Bethanie Skillern of Heiningen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, America Gomez of Las Vegas, NV, Justin Gomez of Las Vegas, NV, and David Bisuano of CA; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, two twin brothers, Gary and Larry Hensley; and one foster daughter, Stella Gomez.
A Funeral will be held for Calvin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, AR. Bro. Rick Pyron will officiate. Friends & relatives are invited to a Visitation with the family one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Following services, burial will be held in Layton Cemetery in Yellville, AR.
