Bruce Clark Prater, age 77 of Nixa, died November 11, 2023. He was born October 23, 1946 in Marshall, Michigan, the son of Perry and Juanita (Clark) Prater.
At 17, he enlisted in the Army. After basic training went to Vietnam. On his 2nd tour serving three and a half years overseas he was discharged as an E5.
Bruce interned with the safety department in the Army and rose to safety manger in the Department of the Interior. He received awards for success in his field.
Bruce was a member of the Ozark Shooters and the American Association of Service Engineers.
Bruce was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, in Ozark.
Survivors include: his wife, Lynne Prater of Nixa; two sons, Perry Clark Prater and Jonathan Patrick Prater; grandchildren, Mathew Ethan Prater, Timothy David Prater, and Joyce Lynne Prater, his brothers, James David Prater and wife Brenda, Kenneth Clark Prater and wife Mary and Jonathan Mark Prater and wife Margaret.
Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marsha Breland.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Ozark. Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
