Bobby B. Holland

Bobby Burdette Holland, 93, passed away in his home in Springfield, Thursday, March 2, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born to Horton Fay and Burnice (Hoxworth) Holland on October 8, 1923, in Redding, Iowa. Bob was a partner and later owner of H.F. "Hoot" Holland & Sons oil jobbership in Sheridan, Missouri. He was involved in several businesses throughout his life including farming and raising registered Polled Hereford cattle. He later became the president of the Missouri Polled Hereford Association. Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corp on December 16, 1941, immediately following Pearl Harbor. He served as a reconnaissance pilot in the Pacific Theater until the end of the war. Bob continued to serve in the Missouri Air National Guard, retiring as a Major in 1983. Bob married Virginia Mae Harvey on August 6, 1943, and he lovingly referred to her as his "one and only". After serving in WWII, Bob and Virginia raised their children in Sheridan and were active members of the community for 35 years. Bob was a steadfast and supporting husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family grew up knowing they were safe, protected and loved. He set a fine example for his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include: sister Ruth Ann Galiher, of Dallas, TX, daughters Bobbe Motsinger and husband Jim, of Houston, TX, Keitha Kaminski and husband Joe, of Kansas City, MO, Stephanie Pudik and husband David, of Springfield, MO, and son Scott Brian Holland and wife Terri, of Nixa, MO as well as Kelly Jensen, his devoted caregiver. Grandchildren: Scott Motsinger and wife Beverly, of Belton, TX, Chad Motsinger and Kellie, of Houston, TX, Matt Motsinger and wife Kelli, of Houston, TX, Whitney Simms and husband Leon, of Oklahoma City, OK, Andrew Kaminski and wife Amy, of Kansas City, MO, Frankie Acheson and husband Scott, of Allen, TX, Taylor Holland, of Springfield, MO, Sammi Rall and husband Blake, of Springfield, MO, and Brenna Alsup and husband Tyler, of Carrollton, TX and, 21 great grandchildren...and Bob's little buddy, Frazer. Bob was preceded in death by: his wife, Virginia, his parents and brother, Bill Holland, and sister, Shirley Hopkins.
