Robert Lewis Crockett, age 74, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, a resident of Jacob's Ladder End of Life Legacy Home. He was born December 20, 1946 in Weston, Missouri, the son of James Roosevelt Crockett and Betty Lou (Bryant) Crockett. "Bobby" to his family, he grew up with four siblings, Ruby, Mary, James "Ricky," and Robin. All preceded him in death as well as his parents.
"Bob" to his friends, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from West Platte High School in Weston. He earned an A.A.S. from Penn Valley Community College; a B.A. in Aviation Technology, Electricity & Electronics Technology from Central Missouri State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude; a B.A. in Mathematics from Park College; and an M.A. in Education from Baker University. He was an advocate for education and taught many years at Missouri State University in West Plains.
A pilot, Bob owned a two-person plane, and enjoyed taking friends and family for a view from above. He was a flight instructor, and even enjoyed remote control planes. He also loved spending time with his neighbors that treated him as family.
Survivors include: A niece, Jamie (Hoskin) Davis and husband Zackary of Kansas City, Missouri, and nieces Edye Acker and Lydia Acker.
A graveside funeral with military honors will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 29, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Arrangements are made under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri.
