Billy Jean Lee, age 90, of Spokane, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015. She was born April 22, 1925, in Spokane, to Simeon and Emma (Hilton) Maples. Billy was united in marriage to Adrian Lee November 10, 1944, in Harrison AR. Billy and Adrian had been married for 65 years when Adrian passed away in 2010.
She earned a master's degree in education, and was a teacher in public schools, specializing in elementary education and special education. Billy taught in many schools and retired from Springfield Public Schools. Billy loved children. She was a member of Ponce De Leon First Baptist Church. Billy was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved flowers of all kinds and had many flower gardens.
Billy is survived by her son John Lee, and his wife Sandy; grandchildren Adrienne Coffelt, and her husband Nathan, Angela Piatt, and her husband Josh, J. J. Lee, and his wife Tennile, all of Spokane, and James Lee, of Loveland, Colorado; 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister Sammy Jane Maples, of Springfield.
Billy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Adrian; a son James Lee; and brothers Perry Maples and Olin Maples.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home, prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Spokane Cemetery, Spokane.
