Dr. William (Bill) Myers, age 52, of Nixa, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015. He was born April 11, 1962 in Woodward, Iowa, to Eugene and Laura (Zerke) Myers. He graduated from Woodward High School, received his under graduate degree in psychology at Northwest Missouri State University, and his Master's degree and Doctorate degree in Neuropsychology at Forest Institute in Springfield.
Bill served his country in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Major in the 101st Airborne Division, where he was the Chief of the Division of Psychology. While in the Army, Bill was awarded Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Air Assault Badge. Bill served as an Elder at Nixa Christian Church. He was a member of VFW Post 15026 in Nixa. Bill's family described him as a quiet and kind person. He loved animals, and loved to golf. Bill attended Northwest Missouri University on a golf scholarship. Bill loved to travel with his family, and loved foods of all kinds. Bill was a proud Cubs fan, and enjoyed watching MSU Bears Basketball.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karla Myers, of Nixa; his step children Evan and Spencer Rotton, of Nixa; his uncle, Gary Myers and wife Linda, of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; his cousins; and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 9, 2015, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in Nixa Christian Church, with Reverend Dr. Micki Pulleyking officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors.
