Bettye Johnson

Bettye Johnson, a resident of Nixa Missouri with her husband Ronald B since 2005, passed to her heavenly home on June 10th, 2017. She was born in Banner Mississippi to Cynclair and Inez Wilson in 1933. She graduated from Bruce High School in 1951, and then attended business college in Memphis TN, securing her first job with General Electric Credit Corporation located in the Sterick Building. She met her husband Ron at a Christmas party and they attended Bellevue Baptist Church together. They married Oct 4th, 1953 in New Albany MS and moved to San Diego CA while Ron finished his commission in the Navy. They lived in Chicago and Mississippi before returning to Southern California where they raised their family. Family was special as they enjoyed many celebrations and gatherings with their children and grandchildren. Bettye also attended the Wilson Family reunion every summer in Eupora, MS where she visited with many of her nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Bettye met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when she was 12 years old and remained committed all of her life, teaching Sunday School, VBS and singing in the choir as she raised her children to know Him. Bettye and Ron were members of Grace Baptist Church in the Santa Clarita Valley for 35 years before retiring to Missouri in 2005 where they attended North Nixa Baptist church. She was a member of Hume Lake Auxiliary, making crafts to be sold for Christian Camp. She was also a member of Christian Women's Connection and Bible Study. Her hobbies for many years were sewing, cooking and reading. Bettye is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald, and her sister Rebecca Couch. She is also survived by her daughters Joyce Owens and Gayle Sungar and her sons Tim and Larry Johnson as well as seven grandchildren; Trevor and Dana Owens, Erin, Emily, Tim and Olivia Johnson and Alana Sungar. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margie Golden, her five brothers named W.O., John, Gerald, Cynclair Jr., Bill Wilson, and son-in-law Clay Sungar. Services will be held at 1pm Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Adams Funeral Home; 109 North Truman Boulevard, Nixa, Missouri, MO 65714
