Betty “Dean” Charlene Whisenhunt-Webb, born January 17, 1937, in Moyers, Oklahoma, to Henry and Minnie Whisenhunt, passed away September 10, 2024. The youngest of six siblings, Betty led a life filled with love, service, and adventure. On November 25, 1972, she married Ellis Truman Webb of Kansas City, Missouri. They shared nearly 30 years together before she was widowed in April 2002.
Betty was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Cassidy United Methodist Church, where she devoted much of her time to the United Methodist Women, serving in leadership roles such as holding office in the Pastor Parish, organizing the food pantry, and coordinating dinners for funeral services. In addition to her church work, Betty was a dedicated labor union officer in Kansas City for many years.
Betty had a zest for life and enjoyed a variety of activities. She loved playing bridge, golfing, and bowling, but it was her passion for travel that truly stood out. Always eager for a road trip, her favorite excursions included driving in a big convertible to visit family in Oklahoma or explore the breathtaking national parks across the United States. She loved music and dancing, always finding joy in life’s simple pleasures.
A talented cook, Betty’s recipes were frequently requested by family and friends, and her garden in Nixa, Missouri, was her pride and joy, especially after her and Ellis's retirement. Betty’s warm heart and generous spirit touched many lives. She was a devoted stepmother and aunt, and her love for her family and extended family was immeasurable.
Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, faith, and joy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Betty is survived by her stepdaughter Dianna Smith and nephew Bart Whisenhunt.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband; Ellis Webb and her stepchildren; Joy Miller, Gary Triggs and Larry Triggs.
