Betty Dianne Todd

Betty Dianne (Corbett) Todd, age 67 of Nixa, MO, passed from her earthly home to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 15, after battling brain cancer for several months. She was surrounded by family during her sickness and passing. She was born in Bangor, Maine on September 9, 1944 the daughter of Anthony and Martha (Thompson) Corbett. She was blessed with five brothers: Donald and his wife Julie, Orangeburg, SC; Gary and his mate Millie, Tallahassee, FL; David and his wife Joyce, Cuba, MO; Paul and his wife Rita, Cedar Hill, MO; Dale and his wife Diane, Jacksonville, FL. Betty is survived by her husband, Melvin (Mel); a son, Christopher Todd and his wife Josephine, Alexandria, VA; a daughter, Rachel Todd, Clemmons, NC; four grandchildren, Michael and Maurice White, Mt. Vernon, MO, Ashley Gibson, Richmond, VA, and Alexys Wynn, Watagua, TX. She had a large number of nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She graduated from Brewer (ME) high school, class of 1962, Zion Bible Institute, E. Providence, RI class of 1966 and Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God, Lakeland, FL class of 1988. She graduated from the Institute of Pastoral Counseling, Emerge Ministries, Akron, OH class of 1999. Betty and her husband, Mel served as pastors of three Assemblies of God churches in the New York District of the Assemblies of God, before becoming World Missionaries for thirty years with the Assemblies of God in the countries of Bolivia and Venezuela, where they ministered in the Bible School, churches and seminars for different age levels and on various subjects. Betty had a deep interest in helping the women of these two countries, especially the wives of the Assemblies of God pastors. She continued her stateside ministry in Springfield, MO, with Global University and Assemblies of God Caring Connection, ministering to fellow missionaries. She was a licensed Assemblies of God minister. After her retirement from missions in 2007 she joined her husband as Senior Adult Ministries Pastor and Missions Director at First Assembly of God, Nixa, MO, until cancer in both of their bodies ended their ministries in April 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to Nixa First Assembly of God Benevolence Fund, 113 W. Mt. Vernon, Nixa, MO 65714 Visitation will be at First Assembly of God, 113 W. Mt. Vernon, Nixa, Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. with Pastor Don Blansit officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield.
