Funeral services for Betty Lou Helms Stannert, 88, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 11 AM Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Cinco Ranch Church of Christ, 6655 South Mason Road, Katy, TX 77450, with Aaron Walling officiating. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Missouri. Visitation will be 5 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471. She was born Betty Lou Helms on April 14, 1925, in Fargo, ND, to John Fredrick Helms and Pearl Viola Chial Helms. She died January 5, 2014, in Houston, TX. She earned her BA in Sociology at Pepperdine University and her Dr. of Chiropractic from LACC in Los Angeles, CA. She had a chiropractic office in Laguna Beach, CA. Betty was an active member of the Church of Christ throughout her life, most recently serving at Cinco Ranch Church of Christ. She was a former member at Union Hill Church of Christ in Nixa, Missouri, and other Church of Christ congregations. She was married to Robert Burke Stannert for 38 years before his death in February 1994. Betty enjoyed reading and she enjoyed studying her Bible. She talked often of her Christian faith, but more importantly, she lived by Christian principles. She was a very social person, loved talking with people; the conversation always ended with her sharing God's word with them. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Robert J. Stannert and wife, Michelle; four grandchildren who lovingly called her "Grandma", Christopher Stannert, Amber Stannert, Elizabeth Stannert, and Taylor Stannert; 1 great grand daughter, Rilee Stannert; and a large extended family.
