December 13, 1922 — May 22, 2012

Betty L. Wholf King passed away peacefully at home on Table Rock Lake, where she resided with her daughter and son in law, Jay and Holly Budd. She was 89 years young. Betty came into this world Dec 13, 1922, and the Lord took her home May 22nd, 2012. She was born on the Wholf Homestead near Orrick MO, daughter of Edna B. Russell Wholf and George V. Wholf. The family moved to Excelsior Springs MO, and Betty graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in May 1940. She married in Dec 1950 to Willard William (Bill) King and they had 2 children, Hollis (Holly) King Budd and Geo. Martin William (Bill) King. Betty was a longtime resident of the KC metro area, living most of her life in KCK. Betty had a long career. She worked many years in the livestock industry as a remarkable secretary and billing agent for The National Livestock CO. and Swift and Henry, until the industry was phased out. She then worked 20+ years at The University of Kansas Medical Center and retired in 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Uldeen Terry and Shirley Grantello, her brother David Wholf, her husband W. William (Bill) King and her beloved and loyal son Geo. Martin William (Bill) King. She will be remembered by most all who met her. She will be missed by many. Love never dies and her daughter will be eternally grateful to have been so blessed with such a wonderful mom. A celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, June 2, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Most will remember her as "Mom" at The Garden Shed Restaurant that her daughter Holly owned in Nixa from 1999- 2004. As Mom requested there will be an announcement at the services as to a family and friend social hour to be held after the service. Betty enjoyed flowers. She would also be pleased by a donation in her name to an animal shelter of the donor's choice.
