Betty Jean Holbrook

February 3, 1933 — November 30, 2016

Betty Jean Boyd Holbrook, lovingly referred to as "Oma" by family, age 83, of Republic, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016. She was born February 3, 1933 in St. Louis. On February 23, 1950 she and Donald "Roy" Holbrook were united in marriage. Betty worked at Sears Catalog Department for many years. She loved to drive and jokingly told everyone she was an "excellent driver". She enjoyed Cardinal Baseball and her favorite player catcher Yadier Molina. Betty was a member of Westside Christian Church in Republic. She had enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. She also served as a Cub Scout leader when her sons were young. Survivors include: Her husband, Roy; a granddaughter, Danyel McBride and husband Brian of Republic; five great-grandsons, Chase Gabbert, Ethan Gabbert, Brandon McBride, Josh McBride and Jared McBride; four great-great-grandchildren, Brielle, Camrie and Adalee Gabbert, and Carter McBride; and a brother Norman Boyd. She was preceded in death by two sons, Don Holbrook and Mike Holbrook, her mother and step-father Helen and Lowell Amos, and a brother, Robert Boyd. She touched the life and heart of everyone she met, and was the true living witness of a Christian women. Dear to many hearts, she will be greatly missed, and leaves this world a better place. A graveside funeral will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 5, in Union Ridge Cemetery, south of Boaz. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
