Betty Jo Fitzpatrick passed away at home and went to be with her Lord on August 17, 2013. She had resided in Nixa for 84 years. Betty was born on March 18, 1929, to Joe and Ora Payne. She was united in marriage to Marshall Fitzpatrick.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall, a son David, a son Sammie,and a grandson, Kenny.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Alice Wright of Rogers, AR; a sister Ermma Wagemann of Springfield; a nephew Jim Wagemann and wife Sandy of Springfield; a daughter-in-law Linda Fitzpatrick of Nixa; grandchildren, Sean Garrison and wife Tammy of Rogers, AR, Andrea Ward and husband Wade of Fayetteville, AR, Rhonda Carpenter and husband Terry of Nixa, Brenda Fitzpatrick of Nixa, Trena Snider of Nixa, Missie Braun and husband Bill of Joplin, MO, and Shellie Fox and husband Geno of Joplin; 5 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by cousins Nancy Graham of Springfield, Joe Paul Sanders of Nixa, and Charlie Payne of Nixa; other relatives and a host of friends.
Betty was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Nixa. She also attended Finley River Cowboy Church in Highlandville. She drove a bus for the Nixa School System for many years. Later, Betty managed the Senior Citizens Complex in Nixa where she also lived.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, August 22, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 23 in First Baptist Church of Nixa. Inurnment will follow in Payne Cemetery, Nixa.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Nixa to be used for mission funds.
