Betty Kay Fitzgerald

Betty Kay Fitzgerald, age 70 of Sparta, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015. She was born November 22, 1944 in Christian County, the daughter of Perry Willard and Lola Mae (Abney) Sowards. In November of 1965, Betty married Donald Fitzgerald. She retired from Ozark Bank after 45 years. Betty was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed fishing, farming and taking care of her many pets. Survivors include: her husband, Donald, Sparta; her daughter, Deborah McHaffie and husband Terry, Bruner, a grandson, Cody Lee McHaffie, Sparta; a sister, Shirley Long and husband Gary, Rogersville; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Arthur. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday in Sparta Cemetery, with Jimmy Campbell officiating, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. There is no formal visitation planned. Friends may come by Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, to sign Betty's book.
