In 2006 Bertie and Bob received the Nixa Chamber of Commerce Citizens of the Year award. They also served as the Grand Marshalls of the Sucker Day Parade. Bertie was also a member of the Christian County Senior Citizens Service Fund.
Bertie liked to travel and spend time at the lakes camping and boating. She loved Branson and Silver Dollar City. Bertie was close to her siblings and their families. Large family get-togethers came with most seasons.
Bertie was a Charter Member of the Nixa Assembly of God Church. She was very dedicated to God and attended church regularly, until the last 6 or 7 years of her life, when Alzheimer’s began to take over.
