Bertha Gerhardt

March 15, 1941 — August 10, 2017

Bertha V. Gerhardt, age 76, of Nixa passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017. She was born in Norwood, Missouri March 15, 1941 to Thomas and Nettie (King) Forrest. Bertha was raised by her step-father and mother, Lynn and Nettie (King-Forrest) Moody, from the age of 3. At age 5 her family moved to Leoti, Kansas, where she was raised. After marrying James W. Giesick the two of them resided in Liberal, KS. Bertha worked as a book keeper for Bee's Airline Service and later at T and W Water Well Service, both in Liberal, Kansas. She later married Michael Gerhardt in Liberal, KS. When Bertha and her husband Michael retired they moved to Nixa. Bertha was very fun loving and social. She enjoyed going to the casinos and the horse races. She enjoyed fishing at Cedar Bluff Lake in Kansas, Table Rock Lake and Lake of the Ozarks. Bertha loved her family. She made cheer leading uniforms for her daughter and the cheerleading squad. She was always there for her family when she was needed. Bertha is survived by her children Rhonda Cox of Wichita, KS and Jeff Giesick of Nixa; five grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother John Moody of Springfield; Sister-in-law Delta Forrest and brother-in-law Stan Siemens. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Michael Gerhardt; and six siblings. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
