Janice Bernita Luttrell, age 87, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was born April 13, 1930 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Emily Jane (Platt) Burton. In 1952 she and Robert Luttrell were married. Above all Bernita was a mother and wife. She was an accomplished gardener and chef, always striving to learn new techniques. She grew up on her grandparent's farm in Maquon, Illinois, and most of her life she lived in Galesburg, Illinois. Bernita was a strong independent woman who taught others self-assurance by helping many young women. She made a difference in the lives of young people. Bernita loved reading and studying history, always knowing there was more to learn.
Survivors include: three children, Donald Luttrell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Leslie Luttrell of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Carrie Luttrell of Ozark; nieces Kelly Overton, Chris Carver, and Patty Jo Ditto.
Her husband, Robert, preceded Bernita in death in 1989, as well as a sister Lucille Conger and a niece Nola Market.
A funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 12, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery, Ozark.
