Berna Deane Whiteley, age 88, of Ozark, a long time Nixa resident passed away into the loving arms of her Lord on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born August 11, 1929 near Crane, Missouri, the daughter of Bill and Ruth (Kimmons) Perkins.
Survivors include: two sons, Lewis Crain and wife Susan, Jim Whiteley and wife Karen; three grandsons, Steve Crain/wife Kathy, Eric Crain/wife Erica, and Caleb Whiteley; one granddaughter, Kerri Jones; five great-grandchildren. Also step-children; Larry Whiteley/wife Maryanne, Gerald Cawthra; five step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Paul Crain; two infant daughters, Paula Dean and Marsha Kay Crain; her second husband Delmar (Skinny) L. Whiteley; an infant grandson, Colby Whiteley; a brother Billy Perkins and a sister-in-law, Ann Perkins; two step-children Peggy Cawthra and Mark Whiteley.
Berna Deane taught herself piano and loved playing; she enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch, baking, and cooking. She LOVED working in her yard, and mowed over 3 acres even until she was 84 years young.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018: 2:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment at Delaware Cemetery will follow the service.
