Bennett Anthony Borstad, AKA Indian, age 73, of Springfield passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 25, 2017. He was born March 7, 1944 in Devil's Lake, ND to Lloyd and Hilma (Swanson) Borstad. He married Deborah Labaw May 7, 2011.
Bennett joined the Army and was a sharp shooter in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a truck driver for over 50 years in flatbed operations. He was currently employed at Woodys Express driving dump trucks, and talking with all of his trucker buddies on the CB radio telling jokes. Bennett raised Frisian horses and loved farming. He loved riding horses and would ride them in parades. His favorite toy was his new zero turn mower. Some of Bennett's favorite pastimes were hunting, boating and fishing. His most important mission was to spoil his grandkids, and was their "Papa"
Bennett is survived by his wife, Deborah; his children Tammy Lange of Springfield, Courtney Pollock, her husband Shannon of Fair Grove, Lindy Swaim of Springfield, and Brittany Cihak of Springfield, son Scott Borstad, North Dakota, Stacey Markovetz, step-children; Brian Keeping and wife Stacey, and James Iverson, siblings Alan Borstad, his wife Jane of Fergus Falls, MN, Debbie Bertsch, her husband Raymond of Devils Lake, ND, Karen Tollefson, her husband Kenny of Devils Lake, ND, Cindy Geller of Devils Lake, ND, Sherry Ouvellette, her husband Rene of Devils Lake, ND, Darlene Borstad of Vale, CO, Todd Bertsch and Lawren Borstad.
Bennett is preceded in death by his parents
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will be held at Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, at 10:00 a.m.,Monday, July 31, 2017 with full Military Honors.
