Arthur Daniel Gilleylen, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Ozark, Missouri, on November 10, 2024. Born on December 21, 1933, to Adolphus and Myra Gilleylen, Dan spent a lifetime dedicated to family, faith, and community.
On September 8, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lou Hill. They shared 72 wonderful years together, building a family that grew to include four children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends. A lifelong farmer, Dan worked the land of Lenawee County in Michigan with dedication and pride. Known for his genuine kindness, he had a unique ability to make friends with everyone he met. His commitment to helping others was unwavering, whether through his work, his friendships, or his faith.
Dan deeply loved his family and faithfully served his Savior, Jesus Christ. He attended Bethany Assembly of God in Adrian, Michigan, and later Nixa Assembly of God in Nixa, Missouri, where he found comfort and fellowship. With his beloved wife Betty, he enjoyed traveling and helping missionaries in Mexico, further extending his compassion and service to communities abroad.
Dan's legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he created with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dan is survived by his wife Betty Gilleylen; three sons Randy (Debbie), Rick (Becky), Russ (Patti) and one daughter Amy Patterson (Jim Michel); his grandchildren Ellie and Stephen Courtney, Jordan Patterson (Jenny), Lynsey and Nate Kelleher, Taylor and Thomas Breedlove, Lauren and Nic Guajardo, Austin and Kelsey Patterson, and Calli Gilleylen; great grandchildren Natalie, Landon and Audrey Courtney, Gracelynn, Cruze, and Jax Kelleher, Travis Patterson and Townes Patterson; sister Lil Revolinski-Martin (Ken); and sister-in-law Judy Hill.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Gene Revolinski, Jack Hill, and sister-in-law Jo Ann Hill Hendricks.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri, with Stephen Courtney, Nate Kelleher, and Thomas Breedlove officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. immediately before the memorial service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
