Arlene Ann “Cookie” Van Gyzen, age 79 of Clever, passed away June 9, 2021. She was born March 10, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Mariano and Alice (Phillips) Masarocco. On August 29, 1959, Arlene was united in marriage to Robert Van Gyzen.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert Van Gyzen of Clever; children, Joyce Van Gyzen (and Roc) of Clever, Tracey Van Gyzen-Scritchfield of Clever and Bobby Van Gyzen of Clever; a daughter in law, Erin Van Gyzen of Springfield; grandchildren, Joshua, Krystal, Michael, Madison, Riley, Jordan and Carson; great grandchildren, Ashton, Thomas, Damien, Devin, Jameson, Alyssa and Keaton; and two sisters, Cheryl Masarocco and Lou Ann Masarocco of East Providence, Rhode Island.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Renee Powers; and two grandchildren, Russell and Nicholas.
Arlene enjoyed crafting and gardening. She loved being around people and was a lovely, giving person. Cookie was loved by many.
A visitation with an informal funeral service will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Kirby Holbrook officiating. Cremation will follow the visitation and service, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association.
