Andrew Craig Johnson

October 15, 1994 — September 11, 2024

Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Nixa

Andrew Johnson, 29, of Charlotte, NorthCarolina, formerly of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on September 11, 2024.

Andrew was born October 15, 1994 in Rolla, Missouri, the son of Thomas Eric and Pamela Jeanne (Amsden) Johnson.

Andrew loved baseball from an early age. He went on several baseball trips with his grandparents including attending spring training for the St. Louis Cardinals. It was on one of these baseball trips in Boston that Andrew was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Andrew never liked to call attention to this as he didn't want anyone to treat him any differently. Andrew started playing competitive travel ball when he was 11. He went on to play baseball for Nixa High School

Andrew graduated from Nixa High School in 2013. During the summer of 2012, Andrew attended an explosives camp at Missouri University of Science and Technology. This ignited a passion for explosives and mining that existed to this day. After graduation from Nixa, he attended Missouri University of Science and Technology, earning a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with a minor in Explosives in 2020. While there, Andrew enjoyed setting up the Haunted Mine each year, which is a fundraiser for the mining program. Andrew competed on the Missouri S & T mucking team earning several awards while doing so. He continued to compete as an alumni as his schedule allowed. Andrew had several internships while at Missouri S & T, his final one leading to him being hired by Austin Powder Company. Andrew loved his job, the people he worked for, and his coworkers. He often told us he had his dream job.

Andrew loved all things outdoors including hiking, fishing, hunting and playing golf. Andrew loved his family. He frequently purchased plane tickets for them to come visit, go to the beach, and attend Nascar Races. The latest trip was scheduled to take place this November. He was generous and giving without end. His most favorite pastime was taking his position of oldest brother quite seriously. His love of teasing and aggravating his baby sister was a top priority. His love for her and his brothers was endless.

He is survived by his brothers Bradley and Conner, his sister Erica, paternal grandparents John and Mildred Kay Johnson, maternal grandfather Stanley Amsden, paternal aunts Cheryl Hobson and Delbert, LeAnna Paine and Shane, maternal uncle Chris Amsden and Kari. He also leaves behind several cousins and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Andrew is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Jeanne Amsden, his maternal Uncle Craig Amsden and his cousin Ella Paine.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Aldersgate Church in Nixa, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Pastor Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at North Lawn Cemetery, Salem, Missouri.
