Amanda (Darlene) Bird, age 71, of Springfield, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
Darlene was born on Friday, July 14, 1944 in Ava, to Lloyd and Elma (Johnson) Swearengin. Darlene was a Christian and a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed family gatherings and cook-outs. Darlene had a great hidden talent for impersonations and loved to laugh a lot. She believed in clean and simple living.
Darlene is preceded in death by her former husband; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Darlene is survived by two daughters, Karen Strong of Nixa and Lisa Phillips, and her husband Lenny, of Springfield; five grandchildren, Amanda, Randy, Brandy, Elisa, and Amber; two step grandsons, Aryk and Nathan; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fredia Barnnett, of Springfield, and Carol Webb, of Sioux City, IA; one brother, Freeman Swearengin, of Sparta; and many nieces, nephews and caring friends.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Union Chapel Cemetery, Fordland, with Darrell Swearengin Officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
