Edward Alvin Salmon, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born November 10, 1931 in Idaville, Tennessee, the son of Edward Carl and Bessie (Smith) Salmon. He graduated from high school in Bolton, Tennessee. On December 23, 1951 he and Estelle Forrister were united in marriage. Alvin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
During his working career Alvin was a mechanic for Plough Inc., a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a member of Raleigh Assembly of God Church in Memphis, where he served on the board and had been church treasurer. He and Estelle have lived in the Ozark area for the past four years.
Survivors include: His wife, Estelle; three sons and their wives, Sonny and Rhonda Salmon of Ozark, Keith and Debi Salmon of Jackson, Tennessee, and Byron and Dee Salmon of Ozark; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jill, Joy, Samantha, Kristal, Bo, Jacob, Joel, and Jordan; eighteen great-grandchildren, Riley, Hayden, Ian, Jackson, Kyndall, Mason, Weston, Colton, Forrister, Shilah, Brolin, Lizzie, Anna, Abigail, Isaac, Jesse, Katelynn, and Annsley; three brothers, Buford Salmon, Jerry Salmon, and David Salmon; a sister, Helen Salmon; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Salmon and Venoy Salmon, and his parents.
Funeral services will be 9:30 AM Monday, December 4, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
