Alta Marie Hammons

Alta Marie Hammons, age 95, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016. She was born October 3, 1920 in Oldfield, the daughter of Cyrus Alta Moody and Ollie (Coffer) Moody. On February 4, 1941 Alta and Charles Joseph Hammons were united in marriage. They had two children, Linsley "Bud", and Nina. The family lived in Iowa for several years, returning in the late ‘50's to remain in Ozark. Always a homemaker, in Iowa Alta also worked for a calendar factory, and in Ozark wrote articles for the local paper. Alta loved her garden, and grew special tomatoes from seed each year. Alta was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her son, Linsley in 2008, her daughter, Nina Batchelor in 2014, and four siblings, Charley Moody, Fred Moody, Sara Pratt, and Alva Moody. Survivors include: her son-in-law, Allan Batchelor; step-grandchildren, Don Batchelor and Barbara Richardson; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 9, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with David Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Old Boston Cemetery, Oldfield. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday in the funeral home.
