Alice “Nadine” (Tucker) Marrs, age 88, of Nixa, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Nixa Nursing and Rehab. Nadine was born January 17, 1933, on a farm outside of Lead Mine, Missouri, the daughter of Ivan and Lola (Conrad) Tucker. On October 23, 1955, Nadine and James Samuel Marrs were united in marriage for 58 years until James’ passing in 2013.
Nadine graduated from Missouri State University and became a Registered Dietitian working at the US Medical Center for Federal Prisoners and then, for many years, at Mercy hospital in Springfield where she was known for taking a human as well as nutritional interest in her patients’ care. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Glendale Baptist Church, and later High Street Baptist Church. She kept busy following retirement helping her family and others, including moving to Kingman, Arizona in 1991 to be near her mother, Lola. Nadine and James returned to Missouri in 2008 to live in Nixa where they joined Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Jim Wesley of Springfield, David Dean and wife Claire of San Antonio, Texas, and Kevin Lee and wife Vicki of Centennial, Colorado; two sisters, Lola Mae Hill of Lubbock, Texas and Twyla Taylor of Holbrook, Arizona; six grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Michele, Lisa, Erika, and Nathaniel; two great-granddaughters Alyssa and Breeze; a great-grandson Sky; and a sister in-law, Betty Marrs.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband James in 2013, their daughter, Gloria Jean in 1968, and two grandsons Chad and Eric.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, MO with Pastor Raymond Brinson officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Private family interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield.
