Albert Preston McDaniel, age 88 of Ozark passed away in his home on the morning of October 13, 2016.
Albert graduated from Ozark High School, class of 1944. He then went to work for the Frisco Railroad. Albert was drafted and served in the U.S. Army. After discharge from the military, he returned to work for the railroad, where he worked as a machinist and eventually served as Foreman of the Roadway Products Plant for the Frisco-Burlington Northern until retirement in 1982. After retirement, Albert began his "real" job working on the family farm where he was born and raised. He took great pride in raising quality Limousin beef cattle. In addition to raising cattle, Albert's hobbies included watching sports. He especially enjoyed baseball. Albert was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Albert was the patriarch of the family and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, integrity and quick wit. He was a valiant warrior throughout his last days.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Ples and Nettie (Doran) McDaniel; his brothers, Neal and Leon McDaniel; sisters, Jessie Jones, Gladys McDaniel and Josephine Piquette; and in-laws, Bud and Helen Landes and John Landes.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Peggy, of the home; daughters, Carrie Barton and husband David and Libbey McDaniel, Springfield; granddaughters, Laurel and husband Ryan Durst, Fordland and Abbey Barton, Springfield; faithful companions, Axel and Zoe; special nephew, Ruel McDaniel, Highlandville; niece, Phyllis McGowan, Congress, Arizona; numerous in-laws; nieces and nephews.
The family is most grateful and appreciative of the care provided to Albert by Dr. Jennifer McNay and Dr. Jessica Snider of Mercy Hospital Springfield.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Randall Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark.
