Shirley Mae Maggard, age 66, of Purdy, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. She was born September 19, 1950 in York, Nebraska, the daughter of Dean Melvin and Luella Mae (Warren) Long. Shirley was one of eight children in the family and worked hard along with her sister to help with the six boys. Shirley received a Bachelor of Arts degree from School of the Ozarks. She was employed by Fasco Industries for over 30 years. Before leaving the company, she worked as a draftman.
Shirley was always an artist and enjoyed quilting. She had no children of her own, but loved all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
Survivors include: Her mother Luella Long, of Ozark; six brothers, Chuck Long and wife Polly of Cassville, Jim Long of Cassville; Tony Long and wife Debbie of Sparta, Bob Long and wife Tenah of Ozark, Doug Long of Cassville, and Jeff Long and wife Sherry of Purdy; a sister, Terri Evans of Cassville; many nieces and nephews, and all of their children and grandchildren.
Her father, Dean Long as well an infant sister, LeeAnnette preceded Shirley in death.
A Celebration of Shirley's life will be 2:30 PM Saturday, December 31, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation and viewing will be from 12:30 PM until service time on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date in Prospect Cemetery.
